CHO Cell Cloning Procedure: Semi-Solid Cloning with ClonaCell™-CHO

Cloning CHO cells using semi-solid cell culture media is an efficient method that allows for isolation of a large number of diverse clones, each with a high probability of monoclonality. Semi-solid cloning physically separates individual cells by suspending them in the viscous medium, allowing them to grow into discrete colonies that can be easily isolated. Using this method can enable generation of monoclonal cell lines in less time and using fewer resources than limiting dilution cloning. This video outlines the ClonaCell™-CHO procedure for semi-solid cloning, including preparation of the cells, plating, colony picking, and expansion prior to screening for the desired monoclonal antibody or other protein product of interest.
