Measuring Activity in hPSC-Derived Neural Organoids
Neural organoids are valuable tools for modeling developmental processes and disease
mechanisms. However, variability in organoid structure and a lack of standardized protocols
can complicate their use for functional analysis. Furthermore, challenges such as insufficient
glial support and the long maturation times required for neuron development make it difficult to
measure consistent organoid activity and functional characteristics.
In this webinar, Carmen Mak, Senior Scientist from STEMCELL Technologies, describes, in detail, standardized workflows for generating midbrain, cerebral, and spinal cord organoids. Additionally, she showcases methods to measure functional outputs of these neural organoids using microelectrode arrays (MEAs) for drug discovery and disease modeling.
In this Product Theater talk from SfN 2024, Carmen Mak, Senior Scientist, describes standardized workflows to generate reproducible disease models using neural organoids and measure functional outputs using microelectrode arrays (MEAs).
