Overview

Efficiently label mitochondria in proliferating and non-proliferating cells with Mitochondrial Tracking Dye, Deep Red. This fixable fluorescent dye uses a quick staining protocol that is well suited for high-throughput screening and is compatible with fluorescence microscopy. Mitochondrial Tracking Dye, Deep Red uses a labeling protocol with minimal hands-on time while promoting photostability and long retention times for enhanced staining efficiency.

Features:
• Excitation wavelength: 640 nm
• Emission wavelength: 659 nm
• Easily crosses live cell membranes due to hydrophobicity
• Partially dependent on mitochondrial membrane potential
• Cell-retaining group produces longer retention times
• Verified for use in fluorescence microscopy

Mitochondrial Tracking Dye, Deep Red is a hydrophobic dye that accumulates in mitochondria and is partially dependent on mitochondrial membrane potential. Upon depolarization, the dye relocalizes to the cytoplasm and becomes non-specific, but still retains its red fluorescence. Mitochondrial tracking dyes contain thiol chloromethyl, a cell-retaining group (Clutton et al. Cytometry A, 2019). The chloromethyl group increases staining efficiency by retaining the fluorescent dye in the mitochondria long after fixation (Clutton et al. Cytometry A, 2019). Due to its vivid far red fluorescence, Mitochondrial Tracking Dye, Deep Red is suitable for multi-labeling experiments such as microplate assays and flow cytometry. Use Mitochondrial Tracking dyes to quantify mitochondrial activity, localization, and abundance.
