Defined, Serum-Free Medium for Prostate Epithelial Progenitor Cells
ProstaCult™ is an optimized and standardized medium for the detection, culture and enumeration of mouse prostate epithelial progenitor cells. This defined, serum-free medium is ideal for the culture and evaluation of prostate epithelial progenitor cells in prostate colony-forming unit (Pr-CFU) assays, and enables researchers to detect up to seven times more mouse Pr-CFUs than published formulations. Pr-CFU assays are routinely used to assess prostate epithelial stem cells, which are believed to play a role in prostate cancer. ProstaCult™ can also be used to enzymatically dissociate mouse prostate tissue to a viable single cell suspension.
Mouse prostate epithelial cell colonies cultured in ProstaCult™ Mouse Medium Kit in the presence of an irradiated NIH 3T3 feeder layer can be visualized by Wright-Giemsa staining.
Mouse prostate epithelial cell colonies cultured in ProstaCult™ Mouse Medium Kit in the presence of an irradiated NIH 3T3 feeder layer can be visualized by immunofluorescence staining to detect nuclei (DAPI-blue) and cytokeratin 5 (green).
Why Use ProstaCult™?
Detects 7X more prostate colony-forming units than published formulations.
Standardized medium and culture conditions increases experimental reproducibility.
