Mesenchymal Stem and Progenitor Cell Research
MSCs, originally coined mesenchymal stem cells1 but now also referred to by other terms, such as multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells,2,3 mesenchymal progenitor cells4 or medicinal signaling cells,5 occur at low frequency in tissues and must be expanded in vitro to obtain sufficient numbers for basic and translational research.
