hPSC-Derived Neural Cell Research
To characterize human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived neurons and confirm cellular phenotypes, researchers typically evaluate morphology, marker expression, and function. Many crucial physiological properties of neurons, such as action potential generation and synaptic activity, are impaired in traditional neuronal culture media, which are enriched and hyperglycemic. For neuronal live imaging with reduced autofluorescence and phototoxicity, BrainPhys™ Imaging Optimized Medium is ideal for analyzing neural activity in 2D or 3D cultures. You may also use the membrane-permeable fluorescent probe NeuroFluor™ NeuO to label live hPSC-derived neurons. The labeled cells can be visualized using fluorescent imaging, quantified using flow cytometry, and isolated using FACS.
Stand-alone primary antibodies and neuromodulatory small molecules are also available for characterizing neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes, as well as undifferentiated neural cells.
