The StemSpan® CC220 cytokine cocktail contains a combination of recombinant human (rh) cytokines formulated to support the expansion of megakaryocyte progenitors and the production of megakaryocytes and platelets in cultures of human hematopoietic cells. We recommend StemSpan® CC220 in combination with StemSpan® SFEM or StemSpan® H3000 serum-free medium.

Megakaryocyte expansion in StemSpan® SFEM
Human cord blood CD34+ enriched cells were cultured in StemSpan® SFEM supplemented with Stem Cell Factor, Thrombopoietin, Interleukin-6 and Interleukin-9 (StemSpan® CC220, Catalog #02696). After 7 days, cells were counted and replated in fresh medium, and cultured for another 7 days. After the second culture period, the fold expansion of total nucleated cells (TNC) and CD41+ megakaryocytes was measured. Results are expressed as average fold expansion (± 1 standard deviation) of 6 experiments.
