CD36 is a 88 kDa glycoprotein receptor for extracellular matrix proteins such as collagen and thrombospondin. CD36 is expressed on monocyte, macrophages, platelets and erythrocyte precursors. CD36 is also expressed on endothelial and epithelial cells, adipocytes and activated keratinocytes.
