NeuroCult®-XF Proliferation Medium Kit
NeuroCult®-XF Proliferation Medium is a standardized, xeno-free, serum-free medium for the culture of human neural stem and progenitor cells as neurospheres. NeuroCult®-XF Proliferation Medium must be supplemented with appropriate cytokines (not included). The medium is optimized to maintain human neural stem cells in culture for extended periods of time without the loss of their self-renewal, proliferation or differentiation potential. NeuroCult®-XF is comprised of NeuroCult®-XF Basal Medium and NeuroCult®-XF Proliferation Supplement.
 
NOTE: Addition of Carrier-Free rh EGF (Catalog #02653) and rh bFGF (Catalog #02654) is required. Heparin (Catalog #07980) can also be added, however, the heparin solution contains non-human animal-derived components and can be omitted if a complete xeno-free system is desired.

NSCs cultured in NeuroCult®-ACF Proliferation Medium maintain multi-lineage potential in long-term cultures.


NSCs cultured in NeuroCult®-ACF Proliferation Medium maintain multi-lineage potential in long-term cultures.
Cells obtained from passage 10 neurospheres cultured in NeuroCult®-ACF Proliferation Medium were differentiated under animal component-free differentiation conditions. Immunofluorescent staining was performed to identify the differentiated cell types.
A) Neurons (red) were detected with an anti-ß-Tubulin III antibody and astrocytes (green) with an anti-GFAP antibody.
B) Oligodendrocytes (green) were detected with an anti-O4 Oligodendrocyte Marker antibody and cell nuclei (blue) were identified using the DNA dye DAPI.
C) Percentage of neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes generated following differentiation of NSCs previously cultured in NeuroCult®-ACF or NeuroCult® NS-A Proliferation Medium.


Neurospheres derived from human fetal CNS tissue can be efficiently generated for multiple passages in NeuroCult®-ACF Proliferation Medium.

Total cell expansion obtained with NeuroCult®-ACF is comparable to that obtained with NeuroCult® NS-A Proliferation Medium (Human).
