STEMCELL Technologies offers a two-day course on mammary stem cells.  Participants will gain hands-on instruction in the dissection, dissociation, culture, identification and enumeration of human and mouse mammary stem/progenitor cells. Lectures and laboratory sessions are conducted by Dr. John Stingl, a leading researcher in the field of mammary biology.
 
Upon completion of the course, participants should have a thorough understanding of mammary stem cell biology and current practices in the field. In addition, participants will learn to overcome challenges involved with key stem and progenitor cell assay procedures and become confident in performing specialized practical mammary techniques in their own laboratory setting.
 
To ensure personalized instruction, this two day course is limited to twelve participants.

PRACTICAL LABORATORY SESSIONS
• Aseptic mouse mammary gland extraction and dissociation
• In vitro mammary colony forming assay evaluation
• Human tumorsphere identification and enumeration
• Mouse mammary fat pad clearing and cell injection
• Micro-surgery xenograft of human mammary progenitor cells on the mouse kidney capsule
• Flow cytometry analysis of subpopulations of human primary and derived mammary cells that express ALDH
