Keratin 18 is an intermediate filament found in a variety of simple and glandular epithelia. The DC-10 antibody clone recognizes the 45 kDa keratin 18 polypeptide. Keratin 18 is not expressed in stratified squamous epithelium and in the mammary gland, it is expressed by luminal epithelial cells but not by myoepithelial cells. The DC-10 clone was generated immunizing a BALB/c mouse with PMC 42 human mammary carcinoma cells. Splenocytes were fused with X63Ag8.653 myeloma cells [Lauerova et al.].
