Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) is an intermediate filament protein strongly expressed by astrocytes. This antibody is useful for the detection of GFAP in astrocytes, certain other astroglia in the central nervous system, satellite cells in peripheral ganglia and non-myelinating Schwann cells in peripheral nerves. This mouse monoclonal antibody detects GFAP from human, cow, pig, mouse, rat and all other mammalian and avian species tested to date.
