Ficoll-Paque™ PLUS
Ficoll-Paque™ PLUS is recommended for the isolation of mononuclear cells from peripheral blood, cord blood, and bone marrow by exploiting differences in cell density. Granulocytes and erythrocytes have a higher density than mononuclear cells (MNC) at the osmotic pressure of Ficoll-Paque™ PLUS, and they sediment through the Ficoll-Paque™ PLUS layer during centrifugation. Ficoll-Paque™ PLUS also enhances erythrocyte aggregation to increase erythrocyte sedimentation. Lighter density MNC remain at the plasma-Ficoll-Paque™ PLUS interface.
