CD45 Antibody, Clone 2D1, FITC-Conjugated

CD45 (Leukocyte Common Antigen) is expressed in at least 5 different isoforms ranging from 180 to 220 kDa. These isoforms are generated by alternative splicing of 3 exons, A, B and C. All isoforms have the same eight N-terminal amino acid residues that are followed by the various combinations of the peptides encoded by the A, B and C exons. All members of the CD45 family are transmembrane glycoproteins and at least one CD45 isoform is expressed on the surface of all human leukocytes. CD45 is an important immunoregulatory molecule encoding two tandem phospho-tyrosine phosphatase domains. It is highly expressed on lymphocytes making it a major component of the membrane of these cells. It is also expressed at lower levels on eosinophils, monocytes, basophils, neutrophils and progenitors. CD45 is not expressed on erythrocytes or platelets. The 2D1 monoclonal antibody binds all CD45 isoforms.
