CD25 is the low-affinity receptor for Interleukin-2 (IL-2) and is also known as the IL-2R-α-chain and Tac antigen. CD25 forms a complex with CD122 (IL-2R β-chain) and CD132 (IL2R γ-chain). CD25 is expressed on antigen or mitogen-activated T-cells. It is also expressed on anti-IgM stimulated B- cells and on LPS-stimulated macrophages. Human-T-cell leukemia virus I (HTLV-1) transformed T-cell lines express CD25 at high levels.
