Currently we have an opening for a Scientist – Pluripotent Stem Cells, in Vancouver.
In this position, the Scientist is responsible for developing novel cutting-edge products, protocols and technologies for application in the field of human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC) research. You will be responsible for learning, performing experiments and trouble shooting, data analyses and the reporting of experiments performed. You will act as an in-house expert for the product line you work on, and provide top level technical support to customers and other departments.
Duties: - Develop protocols and applications in the hPSC field
- Validate and source new products and new product components
- Establish and work with external collaborators
- Design own experiments with input from supervisor
- Establish performance criteria for new products
- Perform data analysis and calculations independently
- Trouble shoot experiments, identify abnormal or unexpected trends in data
- Present data at R&D data meetings, provide conclusions and future plans
- Perform literature reviews, discuss relevance to product design with supervisor
- Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for product lines
- Provide training on laboratory/product protocols to lab and sales staff
- Provide technical support (product use, protocols, training) for other departments
- May supervise a coop student
- Support Quality Management System (QMS) initiatives, adhere to QMS requirements
- Support business development, perform literature and patent searches, evaluate new technologies
Qualifications: - PhD (or MSc with equivalent knowledge and experience ~ 6-8 yrs relevant experience) in a field related to pluripotent stem cell research
- Extensive knowledge in a specific field related to STEMCELL products and broad knowledge in a number of fields related to STEMCELL products
- Experience in neural differentiation, cell separation and cell expansion techniques for hPSC would be an asset
- Have an established scientific reputation in a related field of research
- Skilled in wide range of laboratory techniques
- Experience performing independent laboratory research
- Works well in a team
- Has established successful external collaborations.
- Excellent written communication skills
- Good verbal communication both one on one and in a group
- Is a skilled presenter able to deliver technical summaries of data as well as high level explanations designed to support strategic decisions
