In order to support our rapid growth, we are seeking a Scientist – Pluripotent Stem Cell Biology for our Research and Development Department in the Vancouver office. The Scientist, reporting to a Senior Scientist, is responsible for expanding STEMCELL’s product line for pluripotent stem cell research by developing novel cutting-edge products, protocols and technologies for application in the field of pluripotent stem cell research. The successful candidate will act as an in-house expert for the pluripotent stem cell product line and the field of regenerative medicine. For this position, we are seeking someone with bioengineering experience, to develop stirred suspension bioreactor systems for scaled-up hPSC culture and differentiation.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies new products to expand the pluripotent stem cell product line
- Develops new products, protocols, assays and applications for pluripotent stem cell research and related fields
- Validates and sources new products and new product components
- Establishes and maintains external collaborations
- Maintains a strong understanding of human pluripotent stem cell research and applications related to new product development
- Acts as a scientific ambassador for the company, makes external presentations, publishes abstracts and articles
- Provides training on laboratory/product protocols in the pluripotent stem cell product line to STEMCELL staff in all departments, and to customers through organized training courses.
Qualifications:
- PhD (or MSc with equivalent knowledge and at least 3-4 years relevant experience) in pluripotent stem cell research or bioengineering.
- Has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of pluripotent stem cell biology, and broad knowledge in related fields of research (stem cell biology and/or developmental biology)
- Has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of bioengineering, specifically pertaining to perfusion bioreactor systems
- Has established a scientific reputation in stem cell research
- Is skilled in a wide range of laboratory techniques
- Has experience performing independent laboratory research and project management
- Has experience using STEMCELL products for pluripotent stem cell research
- Successful in writing research grants, publications, and/or patents
- Has established successful external collaborations
- Excellent interpersonal skills and works well in a team
- Excellent written communication skills
- Good verbal communication skills, both one on one and in a group
- Is a skilled presenter able to deliver technical summaries of data as well as high level explanations
